The first written evidence of the municipality dates back to 1250. The municipality Hať is situated close to the Polish border, in the northeast part of the Opava district in a shallow valley formed by Bečva Creek. The municipality is 4 km long. There are also two border entrances for local border traffic. The two main places of interest are water reservoir and more than 200 years old linden tree, growing in the garden of a parsonage.
