The Hněvošice district lies in the northern part of the Opava district, near the Polish border – the northern border of the cadastre is a state border. The municipality borders with the Kobeřice municipality on the southeast, with the municipality Služovice and its part Vrbka on the south, and with the municipality Oldřišov on the west. Hněvošice is approx. 10 km far from district town Opava.
